WHY is This Action So Important?

Because the Voter Information Pamphlets have little information about the County Committee Candidates, just whether or not they're incumbents.

If we don't give voters the information, they're likely to vote only for incumbents, or not vote at all.

OUR EFFORTS ARE WHAT WILL MAKE THE DIFFERENCE!!

We are supporting one incumbent, Karen Weinstein. She'd love to have her team at the table too!

Please do come on Saturday, you'll have a good time, we promise!

Antsy waiting for final word on the Democratic Presidential nominee?

Itching to reclaim our democracy NOW?

Wait no more, Grassroots Progressives (grassrootsprogressives.org) to the rescue!

Karen, Mark, Janet, Edie, Sumi, Eleanor, Ces, Andrea and Vicki have stepped up to the plate to take back our country from the bottom up by running for positions in the local Democratic Party.

  • DFA ACTION Meetup Co-Hosted By EAST BAY YOUNG DEMOCRATS - Walk for Grassroots Progressives in Berkeley and Oakland
  • SATURDAY May 10 @ 9:30 a.m. (NOTE NEW DATE and TIME!)
  • Greenlining Institute
  • 1918 University Ave. 2nd Floor, Berkeley

This is truly OUR campaign, and we're going to win it the old fashioned way, precinct by precinct, voter by voter. If you live in the 14th, 16th or 20th Assembly District you already should have a sample ballot with their names right on it!

We'll walk neighborhoods in Berkeley and Oakland dropping fliers (and those who'd like, can knock on doors too). Give voters a reason to vote for these candidates for the Democratic Party.

As Alameda County Democratic Central Committee members our Grassroots Progressives will:

  • Revitalize the Alameda County Democratic Party
  • Register new voters
  • Increase voter turnout by organizing neighborhood leaders in all parts of Alameda County
  • Recruit, train, support and endorse progressive Democratic candidates.

Also, as county delegates to the California Democratic Party our Grassroots Progressive will insist that the Party and Democratic officeholders stand up for the Party's progressive Platform:

  • Enact affordable universal health care for all Californians
  • Effectively address the climate crisis
  • Defend a woman's right to chose
  • Make sure that every vote is counted
  • Support and implement Clean Money legislation at the local, state and federal levels
  • End the occupation in Iraq
  • Support a living wage and the right to organize

This is the easiest, most rewarding precinct walking imaginable. We're walking for our own grassroots activists, and voters are responding wonderfully. In the four weeks since walking began, voters are thanking us for being the ones who finally came to their doors and told them what the heck the local Democratic Party organization actually is. They're delighted to learn that our candidates want to get the local Party active and effective.

Join us!

I figured it out! You are all in Loni Hancock's District!!! I can't vote for you and neither can my friends. We are all in Sandre Swanson's Distrcit!!! I know some LaRouce people got on in the past. What are Progressive candidate endorsements here?

Partially disabled and can't walk more than a block. Can someone tell me why I don't see these candidates names on my sample ballot?

Who attended?

  • 39 attendees
    •  A great group of folks walked for Democracy May 10.
    •  We should do another one this month! Definitely the goal will be to get more literature for a day like this. Almost all of us ran out before we hit all residences in our precincts.
    •  More stuff like this would be GREAT! Might make more sense to have a separate location for AD16 people since 1918 University was too far away to come back to for lunch. Questions: Can we afford door hangers? What about the No on 98 people? Will they be helping to spread the word about grassroots candidates for the central committee? I've arranged to do more AD16 precinct walking during the week and/or next weekend.
    •  Awesome! Thanks so much for partnering. We'll be in touch regarding other canvassing collaborative opportunities. Frieda
    •  Lots of enthusiasm and good energy...Informative...We covered a lot of territory in distributing information on Prop. 98 and candidates for Section 16.
    • Karen Weinstein (+2 guests)
This was a great exciting morning, talking, laughing eating and of course walking with others. It was inspiring that so many people care about this race, Thank you DFA and EB4D
    • Andrea (+1 guest)
    • Sumi (+5 guests)
