Poor Galileo, 400 hundred years ago he discovered truth and was discredited and punished by Theologians for trying to enlighten the world. Fortunately, back then, Galileo didn’t have to face down the Church over evolution. And, fortunately 400 years later, we aren’t still arguing about what heavenly body is at the center of our universe. But “the Beat Goes On”! New disputes between Science and Theology spring up continually and these disputes creep into and tend to cloud our education systems. Think: Evolution, Stem Cell Research, Global Warming, all political battleground issues that permeate educational philosophy.
Kansas Citizens for Science headed up by Harry McDonald is at the forefront of this battle for science education in the state of Kansas. Please come listen to Harry explain what goes into trying to maintain science purity within our education system. Come hear what it takes to defend what we have discovered and learned through study and observation against an opposition who feels ancient revelations should trump man's new findings that are borne out by research.
A question and answer session fill follow.
Additionally: we will be asking you to ‘gear up’ to participate in a Bi-State Legislators appreciation day June 27th, titled “Proud to Pay our Share”, and we will be kicking off GKCDFA’s participation in Robin Carnahan’s campaign to replace Kit Bond.
We look forward to seeing you all there!
Take Care
Paul
