About The ABQ Democracy for America-Democracy for NM Meetup Group

We are the Albuquerque Meetup for Democracy for New Mexico, which is loosely affiliated with the national group Democracy for America, originally founded by Howard Dean. This Meetup group evolved out of the Albuquerque Dean for America Meetups that began in 2003.

We aim to serve as an information clearinghouse for progressive and Democratic activists and groups, as well as to create our own local activities to support progressive candidates and issues of our choice.

We are working to strengthen the progressive grassroots political movement now and in the long term. Our aim is to take our country and our Party back from special interests that put corporate gain before human values. Our goal is to encourage candidates and officeholders to be more responsive to and representative of liberal, progresssive and core Democratic values. Most importantly, we want to help inform and empower ordinary citizens to become active politically.
