Free the Jena 6!!! Protest at the Justice Department in D.C.

On November 7 the Jena 6 will be back in court, and the movement to free the 6 will be taking to the streets in demonstrations across the country, much of it organized by the A.N.S.W.E.R. Coalition, but also much of it is also organized spontaneously by people who see the Jena 6 case as an outrage. The closest demonstration to Roanoke will be in Washington, D.C. at 5:00 pm in front of the Justice Department Building.

If we can get 40 people to RSVP "yes" to this meetup event by November 6 at 4:30 pm, then we can get a charter bus for the day of the 7th for $35 per person. If we can get 45-50 people to sign up, then it will only cost about $30 per person. The bus would probably pick us up in the parking lot of William Fleming High School early on the 7th--around 8:30 am--and arrive back home around midnight.

If we do not get enough people signed up for a bus, then we will see if those who have signed up would like to try carpooling for the day.

High school-age youth should be particularly vocal on this issue, because they are the Jena 6. Any Roanoke high school students who think that justice for the Jena 6 is more important than a day's classes should email me personally to reserve a bus seat at roanokepolis@hotmail.com (please mention Nov. 7 in your subject line).

You can leave the meetup group after the event if you so choose, but in order to attend this I need a head count by RSVP. Please RSVP "yes" if you know you will go, as long as we get enough people for a bus or can organize carpools. Please RSVP "maybe" ONLY if you are not sure you would attend even if we had a bus or carpools already reserved***
